Energy Types
"Learning Intention (What we are learning):
Explore different energy types and sources (where they come from).
Success Criteria (I will be know I have learnt it when....):
Explore different energy types and sources (where they come from).
Success Criteria (I will be know I have learnt it when....):
- I can identify different forms of energy and their sources.
- I can describe what transfer and transform mean in terms of energy.
- I can investigate how electrical energy is generated.

Electrical Circuits
Learning Intention:
Identify the requirements (what is needed) for electricity to move around a circuit Success Criteria:
Electrical Circuit:
A complete path, or 'loop' that electrons (electrical energy) flow along. |
Session 2
Learning Intention: Draw a circuit diagram. Construct an electrical circuit from a circuit diagram. Success Criteria:
|
Conductors and insulators
Learning Intention: Understand the difference between electrical conductors and insulators.
Success Criteria:
Success Criteria:
- I can describe what an electrical conductor is.
- I can describe what an electrical insulator is.
- I can predict which items are conductors or insulators.
- I can draw a circuit diagram (including a switch) showing how I will set up the electrical circuit to test which materials are conductors or insulators.
- I can safely use the equipment and investigate which materials are conductors or insulators.
Create a Fair Test-
Conductors and Insulators
Learning Intention: Create a fair test to test whether materials are conductors or insulators.
Success Criteria:
Success Criteria:
- I can predict which materials are conductors or insulators and give reasons for my predictions.
- I can decide which one variable (thing) will be changed.
- I can decide which variables (things) will be kept the same.
- I can decide what needs to be measured or observed.
- I can set up and list all the equipment needed for the fair test.
- I can write a method with clear steps that explains how to conduct (do) the fair test.
Electrical Safety
Learning Intention: Create a scene for assembly explaining one electrical safety hazard and how it can be avoided
Success Criteria: - We can watch the video and take note of information around our given safety hazard - We create a short script for what we will say and do in the scene. - We included what the safety hazard is, what it looks like and how to avoid it. - We collect any props needed. - We practice our scene until we can preform it confidently and without scripts. - WE KEEP SAFE!

Circuit Challenge
Learning Intention:
Can your team make one circuit that includes two light bulbs, where if one light bulb is taken out the other light bulb will still light up?
Success Criteria:
- We can work together as a team. Everyone contributes and we listen to each others ideas and talk about why they might or might not work.
- We can view our mistakes as an opportunity to learn why that idea didn't work. Our mistakes will spark ideas that will bring us closer to the solution.
- We can create one circuit that has two light bulbs.
- We can create a circuit that if one light bulb is taken out the other light bulb will still light up.
- We can explain why the other light bulb can still light up.
